Have you ever wondered how each edition of Chronicles comes together? From content curation to design and finally, analytics, a suite of powerful tools helps bring our newsletter to life. Based on the suggestion of our subscribers, in this special edition, we’re sharing the important tools we use and how they simplify creating value-packed content for you.

Beehiiv 

Purpose: Newsletter creation and distribution
Why do we use it?: Beehiiv is a platform designed for creating, editing, and distributing newsletters. It offers tools for formatting content, scheduling issues, and analyzing performance. Beehiiv has been the newsletter platform we use since the founding of Chronicles & has helped us streamline our outreach program.

Canva

Purpose: Visual content creation
Why do we use it?: Canva simplifies the design process for promotional materials and visuals used within the newsletter & outside it too. With a variety of templates and editing tools, it enables the creation of banners, infographics, and social media posts. We use Canva primarily for designing promotional content for each issue and occasionally for creating infographics to explain complex ideas.

Notion

Purpose: Operations Management & Sharing of Information
Why do we use it? : Notion is a tool we use to support various aspects of SOCIAL’s operations. Specifically, it helps us manage our FAQ pages, ensuring clear and accessible information for our audience. Additionally, we use Notion to track team assignments and monitor progress on various projects. By centralizing these functions in Notion, we maintain a cohesive workflow and ensure all operations run smoothly.

Google Search Console

Purpose: Monitoring website performance
Why do we use it?: Google Search Console provides insights into how well the Chronicles website performs in search engines. Analyzing keywords and search performance helps identify which content is driving traffic and areas that might need improvement. For example, it highlights technical issues, like broken links or slow-loading pages, that could impact user experience.

Google Analytics

Purpose: Audience behavior analysis
Why do we use it?: Google Analytics is used to track how readers interact with the newsletter's website. It provides data on user behaviour, such as which pages are most visited and how long users stay on them. This information helps identify trends and informs future content strategy. For example, if a certain section consistently attracts more attention, it’s a sign to include similar topics in upcoming issues.

Each of these tools plays a distinct role in streamlining the operations behind the Chronicles and SOCIAL. Beehiiv is the foundation for publishing and delivering issues effectively, ensuring a seamless reader experience. Canva enhances the visual appeal of promotional materials, making content engaging and shareable. Google Search Console and Analytics provide crucial insights into performance, helping refine strategies to better connect with the audience. Notion acts as the operational backbone, managing FAQ pages, tracking team tasks, and ensuring smooth coordination for SOCIAL's broader objectives.
